World Ozone Day

“Fix Ozone layer & Reduce climate change"

Renewing our commitment to preserve the atmosphere and protect the stratospheric Ozone umbrella, we celebrated World Ozone Day on 18th September 2023. As a part of this, a special assembly was conducted for classes 6,7& 8. An intriguing speech was given by Jennett Mariyam Bineesh of class 9.The speech pointed up the reality that demands our attention, reflection and action on the matter of ozone layer protection and reduction of climate change. The speech could really make the children to understand that protection of ozone is a moral imperative rather than a scientific issue.

A thought provoking slide presentation on the causes, effects and remedies of ozone depletion, prepared by Joseph Subin of class 11 was displayed on all the classroom panels.

The students of classes 7&8 performed the Ozone song  composed by David Haines, the composer in residents at the MIT science festival, showing phytoplankton celebrating the healing of ozone hole. The theme dance performed by the students of classes 7& 8 threw light on how human activity in the form of industrial emissions, deforestation and the use of harmful chemicals is punching holes in the ozone umbrella. The programme concluded by an informative quiz on Ozone by the students of class 8.

The performances, the posters and the still models done by the students urged everyone to think and feel guilty for the damage we cause to our natural guardian, the ozone layer, and motivated all to protect and restore the ozone layer ensuring a brighter and healthier future for all.
