Fire and Safety Awareness 

An awareness session on fire and safety was conducted on 12th September 2023 Tuesday , for the students of grade 9-12 to raise awareness of fire hazards and how to act safely in an emergency fire situation. The class started at 9 am with a welcome note by Ela Shanmukh, the Head Girl. The resource team for the programme was from Fire and Rescue Station, Pattimattom. The team comprised of Mr.Assainar (Station Officer), Mr.Unnikrishnan P.R.(Senior Fire and Rescue Officer), Mr.Shyju (Fire and Safety Officer) and Mr.Johny (Home Guard).

The programme was scheduled as two sessions. During the first session Mr.Assainar, Station Officer gave a detailed talk about the different types of dangers associated with fire. The session introduced students about the methods to handle fire caused by solid, liquid and gas fuels and the techniques like cooling, smothering, starving and interrupting.  The Station Officer also briefed about the services that are provided through Fire and Rescue Stations and how to avail the same during the time of emergency. Mr. Unnikrishnan, Senior Fire and Rescue Officer explained about different types of burns and the methods to handle such situations. The second session was a demonstration of fire and safety equipments. The team demonstrated different ways of using fire extinguishers, fire hose and measures to handle LPG leakage. The class duration was 3 hours and it was  informative and very useful for the students.   The training session enabled  the students to identify the different conditions capable of causing fire, know how to use a fire extinguisher  and to respond appropriately to fire emergencies.
