First Aid Day Observation

Our school observed the World  First  Aid Day on 13th September 2023 , to raise awareness about the importance of first aid in preventing injuries and saving lives.  The various programmes organised by the Health Club commenced with a short speech on 'First Aid' by Miss Sanjana Ajesh, the secretary of the club. An awareness class on 'First Aid' was conducted during the afternoon session .The class was arranged for 5th standard students. The resource person for the day was  Mrs.Susan Mathai , Associate Professor, MOSC Nursing College Kolenchery.

The session started with a welcome note by the Health Club Secretary Sriram Anil. The class focused on understanding first aid and its importance .The session provided the children an opportunity to interact  and clarify their doubts. First Aid box and its contents were detailed with its uses. The necessary measures or aid that we consider in different types of emergencies like fall, drowning, burns, seizures,  fainting  etc. were described in the class. Demonstration of life saving  measures , CPR and recovery positions were done in the class.  Children were allowed to practice how to apply sling and bandages and the ways to handle choking issues. Power point presentations and demonstrational videos were played in the session. The class turned out to be an extremely benefitting one for the students .At the end of the workshop, everybody felt  confident enough to provide first aid to a  person in need. In connection with First Aid Day ,class 4 and 5 students made their own first aid box. They explained the things that can be kept in the first aid box and its practical usage.  Children also learnt how to administer first aid if someone is injured.
