World Ozone Day

The World Ozone Day is celebrated on September 16th of every year to spread awareness about the Ozone depletion .The theme for this year celebration given by United Nation Environmental Programme is – "Global cooperation protecting life on earth". The slogan of the day Ozone for life , reminds us that not only is Ozone crucial for life on Earth ,but that we must continue to protect the ozone layer for future generation .

To spread the awareness and make the young minds understand about the importance of Ozone layer and the need to protect this fragile shield of gas ,the students of standard performed a street play. The students were very enthusiastic and prepared beautiful posters /charts depicting drawings of the ozone layer depletion .In this play they depicted- What is ozone depletion, how it’s caused and its effects. They started this play by explaining what ozone layer is and how it helps our mother earth. Then the play went on with showing how different acts we do on our daily basis that causes CFC’s and depletes ozone layer. And later the effects were shown on human health, marine life and ecosystem. Finally the play ended with the giving awareness about how not to deplete ozone layer.Children were apprised that Ozone layer is a natural part of our atmosphere and shields Earth from most of the Sun’s harmful ultraviolet radiations . UV rays can be very damaging for our planet- for plants , humans and animals all alike .Active and energetic participation of students was observed throughout the session .On the whole it was creative and interesting act, which enlightened the students and made them realise the seriousness of the situation.
