Bastille Day 2022

The French Department of St. Peter's Senior Secondary School celebrated Bastille day on 14th of July. This national day of France is commemorated with lots of happiness and grandeur. It represents the first victory of France against the ancient regime. Our school held multiple events, starting with a special assembly in French. It was followed by a marvelous exhibition ranging from craft models, charts, dress-ups, cuisines, and books.

Models of the Eiffel tower and many other monuments such as the Musee de Louvre were set up as well. Numerous charts depicting the areas of fashion, cartoons, and drawings were also exhibited. Native dishes like macarons, crepes, and cheese were truly a delight to our eyes and stomach. Students were dressed up as prominent figures like Coco Channel, Gaspert Ulliel, Mary Curie, and Kerri Lymnreesuel.

There were some significant historic exhibits based on the language and chronology of colonialism in France such as ancient symbols, coins, old maps, and antique stamps. Multiple miniature decors resembling the French flag surrounded the auditorium, highlighting the tricolors bleu, blanc et rouge. Prominent books by Victor Hugo, namely "Les Miserables" and "Hunch Back of Notre Dame" were present. La Seine, the river that pours through Paris was creatively depicted with blue slime. There were caricatures of Celine Dion, Louis Pasteur, and Emmanuel Macrons.
