To commemorate National Mathematics Day, on 18 December 2024, a Math marathon was organized for Class 6 students and a Poster Presentation was organized for classes 7 & 8.
Math marathon
The event was designed to foster fast-paced collaboration, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills among Class 6 students. The main objective was for students to collaborate effectively in solving a series of math problems, progressing from easy to challenging levels, in the shortest time possible. Five teams, each consisting of three students from different divisions of Class 6, participated in the Math Marathon. The teams tackled a series of math problems, carefully curated to progress from easy to challenging levels. The results of the Math Marathon are as follows:
First Place: Team 6C - Basil Joby Peter, Feyona Anna Basil, Geevarghese Shiju
Second Place: Team 6E - Serah Mariam Abraham, Shravan Pratheesh, Sukriti Susan Sunil
Third Place: Team 6B - Anntriea Lisa Mathew, Nivik Mathews Biju, Swetha P
Poster Presentation
The Poster Presentation event was a significant part of the National Mathematics Day celebrations, allowing students from Classes 7 and 8 to creatively visualize and celebrate Ramanujan's contributions to mathematics. Students were encouraged to design posters that explained a mathematical concept or celebrated the life and contributions of the legendary mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan. The event witnessed a wide range of creative and informative posters, showcasing students' understanding of mathematical concepts and their ability to communicate complex ideas visually. The following students have been awarded the top prizes in the Poster Presentation competition:

The National Mathematics Day celebrations provided students with the opportunity to engage with mathematical concepts in innovative and interactive ways. The Math Marathon helped students improve their critical thinking and teamwork skills, while the Poster Presentation allowed them to explore the life and work of Srinivasa Ramanujan creatively. These events were a fitting tribute to the spirit of National Mathematics Day and will undoubtedly inspire future generations to appreciate and celebrate mathematics.
