A career guidance session focusing on fashion and design as dynamic career options was successfully conducted for the Class XII students on 8 October 2026 at the SS Block Auditorium. The session was led by Mr. Manu Prasad, Faculty of Fashion Designing at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Kannur, who aimed to introduce students to professional pathways in the creative industries.
During the session, Mr. Prasad introduced NIFT Kannur, established in 2008 under the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, and detailed its premier undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. These included fashion design, textile design, knitwear design, fashion communication, apparel production, and fashion management, giving students a clear picture of the academic options available.
He also provided a comprehensive overview of the NIFT Entrance Examination process, breaking down the requirements for the Creative Ability Test (CAT), General Ability Test (GAT), and the subsequent Situation Test or interview. Additionally, he familiarized the students with multifaceted career trajectories beyond conventional paths, spanning fashion design, styling, fashion photography, costume design, visual merchandising, brand management, and fashion entrepreneurship.
Ultimately, the session significantly broadened the students' perspective on modern design-related careers, inspiring them to explore creative avenues and align their artistic talents with promising professional futures.
