Hiroshima-Nagasaki Day

6th August - Hiroshima Day

Hiroshima Day is observed on August 6 to commemorate the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, Japan, in 1945, at the end of World War II. 2022 marks the 77th anniversary of the world’s first atomic bombing. The day, which is observed at the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park, Japan, highlights the effects of nuclear wars, pays respect to those who got killed, discourages nuclear proliferation and promotes world peace. In remembrance of this event a speech was made during the morning assembly of 6th August 2022 under the guidance of Social Service Club.

9th August - Nagasaki Day

On August 9, 1945, the United States dropped an atomic bomb on Nagasaki, Japan. This year marks the 77th anniversary of the incident and will pay tribute to all those who lost their lives in the attack or were left alive to die slowly in the horrible nuclear radiation.

Beginning of Quit India Movement

80 years ago on August 9, 1942 the people of India launched the decisive final phase of the struggle for independence. The All India Congress Committee under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi decided to launch this movement at the Bombay session. It was during this time that the famous slogan ‘Do or die’ was given by Mahatma Gandhi. The movement played an important role in uniting the common people across the country against British rule.

In commemoration and remembrance of these pre-eminent historical events speeches were made during the morning assembly.

On the same day a collage making contest was held on the topic Hiroshima and Nagasaki Day . The students of grade 9, under the guidance of Social Science Dept, participated in the competition.
